SUVON Discontinuation Information

 

Based upon a decision by the IHETS Board of Directors to refocus the mission of IHETS, a decision was made to discontinue the SUVON service effective May 31, 2008.  Institutions should plan to migrate to another service provider by the effective date.  Further information is detailed below.

Service Connection Types

There are three types of connections by which your institution may be connected to SUVON:
  • T1 trunk-means that the location is currently connected to the SUVON network via a T1 trunk provided by Qwest Communications under the terms of a state contract.  Click here for more information regarding the termination of a SUVON T1 trunk.
  • VoIP-means that the location is currently connected to the SUVON network via Voice over IP.  Click here for more information regarding the termination of a VoIP connection.
  • Business line-means that the location is currently connected to the SUVON network via a standard business line provided by either Ameritech, Sprint, Verizon, GTE, or Perry Spencer.  Click here for more information regarding the termination of a SUVON business line.

Periodic communications will be sent to appropriate technology and business representatives at participating institutions up to the effective date.
